Spider-Man's Cutest Ship Returns Following New Game Reveal

Spider-Man and Morrigan flirt in Marvel vs Capcom

Spider-Man and Morrigan flirt in Marvel vs Capcom

The upcoming Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection is all about punching and kicking, so seeing fans remember Spider-Man’s crossover romance is kind of adorable. It’s weird that this romance exists since the games acknowledge his then-marriage with Mary Jane but no one cares about continuity with this series.

Fans were quick to see if the upcoming collection would bring up the pairing of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Capcom’s Morrigan, which they do. Based on the cover art alone, we see that Spidey and the Darkstalkers icon are already face-to-face, but maybe not for fighting reasons if you catch our drift.

Naturally, fans were quick to post about the Spider-Morrigan ship in Marvel vs Capcom, bringing up cute art of these two together. Long-time players of the game also decided to share the win quote Spidey has when teaming with Morrigan in the first MvC game, saying “Hope MJ doesn’t mind if I’m late tonight.”

Unfortunately, the romance between both characters has seemingly fizzled out in more recent entries of this crossover series. Morrigan was paired with Iron Man in the opening animation of the original Marvel vs Capcom 3. Then, in the story mode of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, she set her sights on Ghost Rider.

Regardless of what current games say, the collection should bring back memories of these two being paired together. While seemingly random, fans have come to appreciate Spider-Man and Morrigan as a crossover couple. After all, the existence of this collection alone is worth celebrating, since most fans thought we would never see these games again.

Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is the compilation fans have been waiting literal years for. Collecting all of the Marvel fighting games Capcom made in the ‘90s, this compilation also makes the bosses in various titles playable for the first time. This collection will be coming out on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this year.
