Pokémon Scarlet and Violet might be flawed RPGs but the two titles are still well-liked by many fans, especially those in Japan. Fans in the country recently voted for who their favorite critter from the new entries was and Meowscarada ended up winning.

Strategy guide website GameWith (via NintendoLife) ran a poll on who the most popular Pokémon of this generation is. We already spoiled this but Meowscarada ended up winning this vote, which isn’t too surprising since its starter form, Sprigatito, is the most popular starter of the games.

Here is the Top 20 from the poll:

  1. Meowscarada
  2. Fuecoco
  3. Chandelure
  4. Sylveon
  5. Tinkaton
  6. Lucario
  7. Mimikyu
  8. Clodsire
  9. Gengar
  10. Gardevoir
  11. Teal Mask Ogerpon
  12. Umbreon
  13. Ceruledge
  14. Pawmi
  15. Glaceon
  16. Garchomp
  17. Sprigatito
  18. Flygon
  19. Alcremie
  20. Slither Wing

Over 152,700 Pokémon fans took part in the poll and these are the results. Fuecoco is the only other starter of the Scarlet and Violet games in the poll, squeezing in as no. 2 to the surprise of no one.

What’s sad about this poll is that no one voted for poor Quaxly, which is a shame since the starter is adorable. Sure, the water-type duck doesn’t compare to Fuecoco or Sprigatito, but it deserved better than this in our opinion.

There are also a good number of Pokémon here from other generations, including Lucario, Mimikyu, Umbreon, Gengar, and more. It’s a little surprising to see that Pikachu didn’t make the list, though fans might be tired of the overexposed mascot, who still appears in the new anime.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sold well when they came out on Nintendo Switch, even if they performed rather poorly. Both games recently received their DLC expansions, which add much more difficult battles to take part in and every starter from the previous games. Both DLC packs still have performance issues, but fans still enjoy the gameplay, story, and characters.
