Despite last week’s report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier having singled out November as the month that’s currently anticipated to see God of War Ragnarok finally arrive on physical and virtual shelves, it seems there’s no end in sight to the speculation over when it will arrive.

Fresh merch listings have some fans questioning whether the game might see some activity in October instead, with this being listed as the current release month of some items related to the game.

Perhaps this shouldn’t be surprising, with players still awaiting a concrete release date announcement for it, with Schreier’s report hinting this might occur “later this month”, following the game’s absence from Summer Game Fest 2022.

God of War Ragnarok Continues to Court Conjecture Despite Last Week’s Report

The new listings, highlighted by fans on both Reddit and ResetEra, came via the website Blackfire.eu, which sells video game merchandise in addition to its primary avenue of trading card games, and have seemingly since been taken down.

However, ResetEra user Angie included screenshots of the items, a t-shirt and two plushies, in their post, revealing them to be made by the Jinx brand.

Reaction to these listings from other players on social media was a lot more cynical than the response to similar merchandise listings discovered in late May, with Reddit user BuckshotJ saying: “Jinx are third party & usually sell merch pre-release, so this doesn’t really mean anything”.

This didn’t stop some users from suggesting that the listings could have some meaning with regards to the release date, with BGunn_1996 saying: “I'm thinking merch will be in the last week or two of October, and God of War will probably have moved to November taking Starfield's date.”

Other users simply declared their bemused contempt for the design of the t-shirt, with NecroAmbulate saying: “I've seen a lot of terrible video game related t-shirts but this takes the cake”.

The dates on the items would seem to further discredit an already disputed report from Gamereactor Spain, which suggested that the game had been delayed until 2023.

That said, it seems players will remain on tenterhooks until the coveted release date announcement finally arrives, with user muneeb93500 pleading: “please Sony say something and free us all”.
