MLG announces CoD Championship NA Regional

So it’s that time of the year again! The Call of Duty Championship is almost upon us and Major League Gaming have finally announced the official venue of The Call of Duty North American Regionals.

The American Regional Qualifiers will be hosted at MLG’s very own arena in Columbus, Ohio from March 6th to Match 8th. This event will include 24 teams from the United States, 6 from Canada and 2 from Mexico, providing us with a grand total of 32 teams. However, only 14 of these teams will be able to successfully qualify for the coveted Call of Duty Championship, hosted in Los Angeles.

Interestingly enough, the Advanced Warfare Season 1 Playoffs are just two weeks before the regional qualifiers, so competitive enthusiasts will be able to experience back to back LAN events! The location itself is the very same venue that hosted the Call of Duty Ghosts Season 3 Playoff, which featured sound proof booths as well as a casters and analyst’s area!

How does one earn an invitation to the North American Regionals?

Well, to be able to attend the regional qualifiers, you will need to secure your eligibility through a series of online qualifiers, some of which have already occurred. Within the United States, the first batch of qualifiers is scheduled to begin on Sat 7th Feb.

The Call of Duty North American Regionals is one of the most electrifying LANs within the competitive season. With some of the world’s largest names competing at the event and a huge opportunity at stake, the tension is typically higher than usual.

In the previous North American Regionals, the tournament welcomed a series of significant and entertaining upsets, with Strictly Business taking main stage. Despite being one of the lowest seeded teams heading into the event, Strictly Business managed to defy all expectations and win the regional qualifiers, overcoming the number one seeded team Complexity, as they secured the crown of National Champions.

The prize pool for this year’s regional will be a stunning $10,000.

This is how the prize pool will be split up;

  • 1st = $5,000
  • 2nd = $2,500
  • 3rd = $1,500
  • 4th = $1,000

The event itself will streamed on MLG.tv and we have listed the proposed schedule below.
