The MCPR-300 is one of the more popular weapons coming to Modern Warfare 3 from Modern Warfare 2. When we picked our top Modern Warfare 2 loadout for the bolt-action sniper rifle, we highlighted the gun's capacity to eliminate enemies with a single bullet, and how the gun can be transformed into a rapid, quick-scoping machine using the Gunsmith.

Best Modern Warfare 3 MCPR-300 attachments
In Modern Warfare 3, you're able to radically modify your weapons to suit a whole host of different unique playstyles. Using the Gunsmith, you can equip attachments that will give a substantial upgrade to a variety of the MCPR-300's stats, allowing you to optimise the weapon for whatever your needs may be.
After some testing, this set of five does the job perfectly:
- Muzzle: ELR Blackfire Compensator
- Barrel: 22" OMX-456
- Laser: SL Razorhawk Laser Light
- Stock: Cronen LW-88 Stock
- Rear Grip: Cronen Cheetah Grip
Kicking things off is the ELR Blackfire Compensator which drastically reduces recoil, preventing unwanted kick from shifting the position of your crosshairs before firing the shot.
For maximum impact at the longest distances, the 22" OMX-456 is the barrel of choice thanks to improvements in bullet velocity, range, and hipfire accuracy in case a no-scope opportunity presents itself.
Mobility often eludes sniper rifles and that's the case with the MCPR-300. The combination of Cronen LW-88 Stock and Cronen Cheetah Grip reduces sprint-to-fire time and aim-down sight speed in addition to improving sprint and movement speeds while aiming.
Best Modern Warfare 3 MCPR-300 perks and equipment
Below, we’ve got the best perks and equipment to help you get the most out of the MCPR-300 in Modern Warfare 3.
Perks
- Vest: Overkill
- Gloves: Marksman
- Boots: Covert Sneakers
- Gear: Threat Identification System
When using the MCPR-300, we recommend using the overkill vest, as this will give you a boost to your weapon swap speed. It's important to carry a secondary weapon you can quickly swap to for close-range engagements, as the MCPR-300 is slow-firing and will often be paired with a large scope. Additionally, we think the marksman gloves are a must-pick, as they'll reduce your MCPR-300's sway, as well as reduce any flinch if you come under fire.
For the boots, the covert sneakers are arguably the best pick in Modern Warfare 3, replacing the Dead Silence perk from Modern Warfare 2. This allows you to move around silently, avoiding detection from foes. Lastly, the Threat Identification System offers the best synergy with the MCPR-300, allowing you to spot opponents and gain assists when your teammates eliminate them.
Equipment
- Lethal: Proximity Mine
- Tactical: Smoke Grenade
While all of the lethal types of equipment can be used to great effect, the proximity mines work best with the MCPR-300. These are handy to spread around on your flanks if you're setting up a spot to camp in with your rifle, and will grab you a couple of free kills in the process.
Meanwhile, smoke grenades are the most useful utility to pick for your tactical equipment. Smokes can obscure lines of sight, allowing you to reposition and avoid enemies with ease, particularly when paired with the covert sneakers. You can also use a smoke grenade to obscure your own position, allowing for a quick getaway.
Is the Modern Warfare 3 MCPR-300 meta?
Given how popular the MCPR-300 is amongst Modern Warfare 2 players, we expect the gun to prove to be a regular pick across the player base in Modern Warfare 3. Its proficiency at quick-scoping and high damage help it stand out amongst other sniper rifles. However, until Modern Warfare 3 releases, we can only speculate on how the MCPR-300 will perform in the meta.
