Modern Warfare 3 players are hoping Sledgehammer Games plans on adding the DLC maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2 once the latest Call of Duty title releases.
2023's Modern Warfare 3 celebrates 20 years of the Call of Duty franchise sitting atop the first-person shooter mountain and to mark the occasion, the developers have remastered all 16 launch maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, much to the delight of those wanting to take a stroll down memory lane.
Although many are content with the thought of loading into Highrise and Rust once again, some want Sledgehammer Games to extend the celebrations. In addition to having the maps that launched with the original MW2, some are asking for the DLC maps from the same game to arrive in 2023's title, too.
Following the two beta weekends, Reddit user Alman11 wonders if there are any plans to add the maps that featured in the separate map packs as part of post-launch content plans.
The player says: "I really enjoyed the DLC maps from MW2 2009. It would be nice to see some of these come back since we are already getting the full MW2 2009 map lineup."
Others are in agreeance. Some want underrated Modern Warfare 2 maps from 2009's DLC instead of more iconic battlegrounds that featured in more popular titles such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
One fan thinks: "I say give us at least the non-CoD4 remakes: Bailout, Storm, Carnival, Fuel. Had all the great map design of that era they can't seem to replicate with new maps these days."
Little is known about the post-launch content plans for Modern Warfare 3. But, Sledgehammer Games has already revealed it has 12 brand-new maps that will release over the course of the cycle. This doesn't include any potential remasters, opening the door for all Modern Warfare 2 DLC to make its long-awaited return to the Call of Duty franchise.
Modern Warfare 3 has the chance to create a map pool packed with the classics and new battlegrounds, and including the MW2 DLC is the way to go.
