The PlayStation 5 version of Modern Warfare 3 will not contain a Platinum Trophy, despite its last-gen version having one.
The discovery was made shortly before Modern Warfare 3's campaign early access window opens and for many looking to work through all of the trophies and achievements on offer, the lack of Platinum Trophy for PS5 players has frustrated many.
Although the PS5 version of Sledgehammer Games' latest release won't feature the highest tier of Trophy, the PlayStation 4 version will contain an award for completing all of the objectives. As expected, the discovery has left many wondering why Sony's current-gen console doesn't contain a Trophy while its last console generation does.
Uncovered by Twitter user PowerPyx, the lack of Modern Warfare 3 PS5 Platinum Trophy has resulted in plenty of frustration before the servers are switched on.
As expected, there are plenty of unhappy PS5 players left unable to add another Platinum Trophy to their collection. One player says: "If this doesn't have a Platinum I'm just not buying it." Another adds: "Definitely skipping this one."
The lack of a Platinum Trophy for Modern Warfare 3 on PS5 is due to the switch from individual releases to the Call of Duty app which now houses 2022's Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Warzone. Instead of a separate list of Trophies to earn, the challenges are listed as an expansion.
Before the official reveal of Modern Warfare 3, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported the game was initially planned to be a DLC for Modern Warfare 2. Despite Activision claiming the game isn't an expansion, no PS5 Platinum Trophy only adds fuel to the fire.
With over a week until the full game launches, there's every chance Activision, PlayStation, and Sledgehammer Games can add a PS5 Platinum Trophy to ease the concerns raised by several players. If not, will Trophy hunters return to a PS4 to get their hands on the milestone or choose to avoid Modern Warfare 3 altogether?
