Modern Warfare 3 players are growing tired of the game's aggressive skill-based matchmaking.

SBMM in Modern Warfare 3 is designed to create competitive matches regardless of skill but as Season 1 moves into view, the lack of casual gameplay is leaving fans frustrated.

While the matchmaking system is delivering competitive matches, many loading into their favourite game modes aren't impressed with those 'sweating' their way with the best guns and weapons in order to secure victory. As a result, some Modern Warfare 3 players believe Sledgehammer Games' latest multiplayer offering is starting to feel tiring and exhausting.

Reddit user No-Praline2958 was first to mention the 'tiring' nature of some matches.

The player says: "Even when I get in a slightly easy lobby, I am holding back cause if I kill a lot and play good, I am gonna get a top 250 lobby. It's not healthy, I shouldn't hold back, I should have fun knowing I'm not getting punished for it."

In addition to SBMM, other Modern Warfare 3 fans believe another new addition is partly responsible for the increase in competitive games. The gan says: "They [Sledgehammer Games] made the game more sweaty by adding the armoury unlocks cause now everyone's trying their asses off to win these games." Armoury unlocks require players to win matches to access tokens to unlock other in-game items, raising the stakes of achieving victory.

As players look for an alternative to the 'sweatfests,' many are gravitating towards Modern Warfare 3's big-team playlist which has proven a hit since arriving in a recent playlist update. One fan says: "Tried the 10v10 playlist for the first time and goddamn it is fun."

As frustration surrounding SBMM continues to grow, Sledgehammer Games is yet to confirm and adjustments to the existing experience in order to tone down the competitive nature of matches. Thankfully, Ranked play launches during Season 1 which is bound to restore the more casual nature of public matches while more competitive players migrate to Call of Duty's competitive ladder.
