Curious about the Modern Warfare 3 Vortex LTM? We’ve got some intel that will help you better understand this new game mode.
Vortex is a time-limited mode that is available during season one of Modern Warfare 3. Like the limited game modes in Warzone, it aims to provide players with extra content where they can break away from the stress of worrying about their K/D ratio and just have fun.

Modern Warfare 3 Vortex LTM explained
The Vortex LTM follows a free-for-all format where every player will fend for themselves. At the start of a match, one random player will spawn in with the infamous Ray Gun from Zombies mode.
The Ray Gun is an extremely powerful pistol that can eliminate targets in one shot, so whoever wields it clearly has an advantage. In Vortex, this Wonder Weapon will be passed on to whoever kills its current wielder.
So not only will the Ray Gun give you a significant power boost during the limited-time mode, it also comes with a giant target on your back. It’s exactly the type of chaos that makes for some fun gaming sessions.
Modern Warfare 3 Vortex map list
You can experience mayhem brought by the Vortex LTM on three different maps. These are said to be remixed versions of multiplayer maps, so they seem familiar.
Here’s a list of the maps used for the season one limited-time mode:
- Satan’s Quarry
- Sporeyard
- Tetanus
Based on these names, it looks like these are remixes for Quarry, Scrapyard, and Rust respectively. Time to familiarize yourself with all the different angles and vantage points for these maps if you want the Ray Gun all to yourself.
