The Map

Gun Runner consists of several crafty flanking routes and ways to evade the enemy, which can often be frustrating for players. With options to mount on a broken wall with a direct view to the train tracks or rush through a wooded area towards a tightly compacted shipping area, nearly every single weapon in the Modern Warfare arsenal is viable.

Ideal for the more aggressive players, Gun Runner favours players that want to get into the action rather than play more passively near the edges of the map.

Hotspots

The Minecarts

The north side of the map is filled with abandoned minecarts (highlighted in red) that make for ideal places to mount or some cover to bob and weave between before reaching the other end.

With three possible entrances to the minecarts, it’s important to keep an eye on whether the doors have been opened and someone has planted a sneaky claymore on the other side of it.

The main focus is the door to the boiler room (shown in orange), where shotgunners and sub-machine gun players can run riot thanks to its close proximity.

The Shipping Containers

Accessed from the train tracks, shower block or the wooded area, the shipping containers are often a hive of high-octane action with players battling to secure control of the middle of the map or securing an objective.

With so many sightlines, it is important to get the advantage on your opponents. Getting the high ground in the containers is a great way to stay hidden from an enemy or pick them off before they have time to acknowledge your position.

Pay attention to this sneaky spot in the containers nearest the shower block – You can see just over the top of the metal and into the window of the green building!

The Boiler Room

Often filled with claymores and shotgunners, the boiler room on Gun Runner is the place to go when looking for a fight.

Accessed through the minecarts or through the middle of the map, the boiler room is one of the most important parts of the map to control, especially in objective game modes when stopping the oncoming enemies is essential to staying in control.

The key part of the area is the interlinking vent that connects the boiler room to the office that overlooks the train tracks. Be very aware of any explosives there to stop any form of flank.

How to Play

  • Use close to mid-range weaponry – With so many tight areas in the map, selecting a weapon that excels in close to mid-range combat is going to be the key to success.
  • Avoid high ground – Unless you are feeling confident, it’s best to avoid the higher ground on Gun Runner. There are so many places to be shot from so it’s best to keep your boots firmly on the ground.
  • Use cover to your advantage – There are so many places to mount your weapon on Gun Runner. Use them to reduce recoil levels and overlook an area with ease.
  • Traps! – Using claymores, proximity mines and C4 are perfect on this map thanks to the small buildings and narrow walkways. Yes, they’re annoying but they are extremely effective when looking for easy kills.
