Season 1 of post-launch content is reaching its conclusion for Modern Warfare and we're getting ready for Season 2. So far, we have seen the introduction of two brand-new weapons, a new Ground War map, new Gunfight maps and some original game modes making their debut on Modern Warfare.
With focus switching to season two of content, the community is beginning to express what they would like to see added into the game and what returning items from past titles that they want to be included in the next season of Modern Warfare.
In this article, we’re going to list some of the things that we would love to see in the next content drop.
More Original Content
The addition of original maps to Gunfight and the Port of Verdansk Ground War map made a welcome change to Call of Duty DLC.
Adding some more original maps in Season 2, especially to Multiplayer will help keep the game feeling fresh, adding to its replayability.
Making the game feel fresh is crucial at this time of year, as the focus has already begun to turn to COD 2020, which is reportedly being developed by Treyarch and returning to a Cold War setting.
Less of the Nostalgia
Everyone loves a trip down memory lane, particularly on Call of Duty, but this time around the additions of Crash, Shipment and Vacant to the game have been underwhelming.
Crash, in particular, has gone from being a fan favourite map to a shell of its former self.
Doors on every building where there were none and a new grenade throwing arc make cross-map 'nades easier to score; dying to them gets repetitive and boring.
Season 2 needs to keep thing moving with the time but not at the expense of the player's enjoyment.
Throwback Weapons Rather Than Maps
It is clear that the mechanics of Modern Warfare aren't compatible with the older maps that are being added into the game.
Rather than adding the old maps, add some fan-favourite weaponry back in Season 2.
There are so many weapons from the Modern Warfare franchise that would make a welcome return to the game and enhanced the experience; especially with the new Gunsmith.
Here’s a list of some weapons that we would love to see added:
- ACR (Modern Warfare 3)
- UMP-45 (Modern Warfare 2)
- G36C (Call of Duty 4)
- R700 (Call of Duty 4)
- Model 1887 (Modern Warfare 2)
A Much-Needed Weapon Balance
The M4A1 Assault Rifle and the MP5 submachine gun are the two best weapons in the multiplayer by a significant margin.
These two weapons do need a nerf to bring them in line with the other weapons in their class.
A weapon balance doesn’t necessarily mean nerf them into oblivion as we have seen in the past, but bringing them in line with the weapons in their respective classes adds some variety.
Rather than a two-gun meta, which has been the case in recent years, let's expand the diversity of loadouts in Season 2!
