Modern Warfare Season 2: Why A Battle Royale Is Needed In Season 2 Of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The first season of post-launch content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming to an end. After seeing iconic maps Crash and Vacant return (to a mixed reception from fans) and two new weapons added, the focus is now beginning to turn to the Season 2.

With some players unimpressed on what season one offered, season two would be an ideal time to introduce the heavily rumoured battle royale mode into Modern Warfare; especially as it was recently leaked that the Battle Royale will arrive in the new season.

Here are five reasons why BR needs to be added as part of season two.

1) Something New

Rather than recycling old content for a hit of nostalgia and a trip down memory lane, why not add something original to the game?

Talk surrounding COD 2020 is already beginning to surface so adding a battle royale mode alongside the campaign, multiplayer and spec ops modes would be an ideal way to draw players back into Modern Warfare.

It would also keep the game fresh, something that is greatly needed in the current state of the game.

2) Multiplayer Is Repetitive

With no sign of a competitive playlist being implemented, every single multiplayer match is highly competitive, which puts off casual players who just want to play to have fun.

Multiplayer gets very repetitive very quickly so the addition of a brand-new battle royale mode would provide a great alternative to traditional multiplayer.

3) Capitalise on Blackout Success

It would be silly for Infinity Ward and Raven Software not to cash in on the resounding success of Blackout, Treyarch’s take on a Call of Duty battle royale mode.

How would a Battle Royale look from a different Call of Duty developer and how would it refine an original, yet familiar, battle royale experience?

4) Extend the Longevity of Modern Warfare

It’s been three months since the release of Modern Warfare and yet the Blackout servers are still filled with people wanting their fix of battle royale.

Having a BR on Modern Warfare would certainly extend its longevity even when the next title is released.

5) Competitive Potential

As mentioned earlier, the chance of a ranked playlist arriving on Modern Warfare is growing thinner by the day.

Introducing a BR in season two would offer players something that is far more competitive than people sitting in a corner with a claymore either side of them.

What better way to increase competition by adding a game mode where the sole objective is to be the last person standing at the end!
