If you’re getting a little tired of Skyrim and are hungry for some mods that prioritise fun over being lore-friendly, the older entries in the Elder Scrolls series can offer some real gems.
For example, Morrowind, the third entry in the series, is currently undergoing a month-long modathon, which has brought several new innovations to the 20-year-old game.
Among these is an amusing new mod by The Wanderer simply called "Doughnuts", which, as the name suggests, adds some iced treats to the inventories of vendors all across Vvardenfell.
Morrowind Modders Add a Slice of New York Style Americana to Vvardenfell
Naturally, this doesn’t quite fit into the established lore of the Dunmer people, but if you’re willing to suspend your disbelief, you’ll be able to restore a little of your fatigue with a sugary treat as you take a break from hunting down Dagoth Ur.
Then again, maybe your Neverarine’s role model isn’t Chief Wiggum from The Simpsons and you’d prefer something a little more savoury to munch on between quests.
Well, thanks to the forces of capitalism, you’ve got a choice when it comes to your Morrow-main course, though neither is that healthy.
Heading over to Balmora, you can grab yourself some fast food at either modsonMods’ “Balmora Burger Franchise” or the titular restaurant of Ignatious’ mod “Welcome to McDagoth's”.
The former of these mods offers “burgers, sandwiches, sodas, and fries”, while the latter does something similar, with the added bonuses of an ice cream machine, Khuul Fried Chicken on the Menu and several new alchemy ingredients.
Plus, if you’re lucky, McDagoth’s might receive a future update adding a quest that’ll allow you to open your own fast food franchise at some point down the line, so, if it happens, that’ll be your Nerevarine’s retirement plans sorted.
So, give all of these a try, but watch out for indigestion, or, if you’re looking for info on The Elder Scrolls 6, here’s what we know so far.
