All game modes in Mortal Kombat 1

The Mortal Kombat series generally likes to stick to a similar format in each game to give us fight fans a standard level of expectation with each new release. With that said, it will also occasionally throw in a few new features just to keep us on our toes. It's no different with Mortal Kombat 1, as you'll find out when we take a look at the game modes included in the game!

Kampaign modes

Story Mode

As expected, NetherRealm Studios is bringing us another exciting chapter to the incredible tale of Mortal Kombat. After Liu Kang achieved Sun God status and became some sort of Super Saiyan Time Lord, he decided to throw back to a better time when a lot of his friends (and adversaries) were less deceased.

Despite seeming to restore the peace, the Mortal Kombat good guys find themselves again fighting for the survival of Earthrealm. With General Shao making his violent intentions clear, it's up to Liu Kang's young champion, Raiden, to protect us all.

Invasion

Seemingly a new way for the Mortal Kombat franchise to improve its replay value, Invasion mode comes as a new feature to the game. Presented as a single player adventure that will be adjusted seasonally, you can pick your fighter to play through, but are welcome to change it as you see fit.

After playing through the main story, players generally will start to phase themselves out of a game (except for the diehard fans and online battle experts), but Invasion mode may keep a few around a while longer.

Towers

A mainstay in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Towers is back! With both standard and seasonal ones undoubtedly on the way, test your skills against a sequence of opponents and prove you are the ultimate martial artist.

The Tower mode also includes a Survivor tower, which challenges you to defeat as many opponents as you can without recovering any lost health. Best of luck to you, it sounds tough as heck.

Versus modes

Naturally, a fighting game is going to have options to go 1v1 with friends, family, and trash talkers you encounter in cyberspace. Prove you are superior to all of them by challenging your virtual enemies in over 18 different arenas.

There are three options in the Versus mode of Mortal Kombat 1: Local, for when you're sharing a console, Online, and Tournament. So whether you're playing couch potato with loved ones or are honing your craft against a host of other skilled players, there's something for everyone.
