Out of the seven game modes available to play as soon as Vanguard launches, only one of them is brand-new. Despite this, there are enough modes to cater for those that prefer to play the objective and those that prefer to run and gun the opposition. Here's a full list of modes in Vanguard:

  • Free-for-All
  • Team Deathmatch
  • Search & Destroy
  • Domination
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Hardpoint
  • Patrol
  • Control (New)

As part of the Season 1 update, Control has been added to Vanguard. Teams must attack and defend two objectives with a total of 30 lives to work with. The team that runs out of lives or manages to capture the objectives wins the round.
