In a recent interview with IGN, Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn Entertainment, it was confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield title will use modern settings and have several changes from its predecessors.

In addition to classic 64-player maps making a return, Specialists will not be present in the new Battlefield, but classes will make a comeback. Players in the gaming subreddit were both excited and skeptical of the announcement, considering the reception of Battlefield 2042.

Many of them are looking forward to seeing the peak of Battlefield again, which Zampella confirmed in the interview.

Zampella mentioned that the decision to return to the modern era was highly influenced by the success of Battlefields 3 and 4. Many players in the subreddit echoed that their best Battlefield moments were in both games.

While some players seem skeptical about the next Battlefield title after Battlefield 2042, others are hopeful as Zampella confirms that the new Battlefield plans to return to the core of what made old Battlefield games fantastic.
