Spider-Man: No Way Home Writers Discuss the Future of Tobey and Andrew Universes

Spider-Man: No Way Home reunites three generations of Spider-Men, including the original's Tobey Maguire and the follow-up's Andrew Garfield. Considering the ending of the MCU hero's third solo outing, major impacts would've rippled across both timelines.

Speaking to IGN, the sequel's writers, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers pondered what could've happened after both heroes returned home.

The two Webheads assisted MCU's Peter with his plan to cure the villains and return them to their respective timelines, following Doctor Strange's spell. Clearly, this would have major repercussions on their respective universes and Sommers had ideas for what could've ensued:

Believe me, we talked about it and we actually had ideas for, you know, ways of showing the effects if there were any. I mean, believe me, these are all great questions.

McKenna noted how they wanted to explore these consequences, but decided to retain the focus on Holland's expressive story arc:

Chris and I even were tempted to maybe, you know, pitch a tag where you got to see something. 'What would happen if this guy goes back and this has changed? Wouldn't that be fun?' Again, we didn't want to distract from the emotion of what was going on with our Peter Parker.

Could we see the two Spider-Men return in the future?

That's certainly a possibility as one of them is rumoured to show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Garfield also talked about a possible third episode in The Amazing Spider-Man series, so we could eventually see both, Garfield and Maguire reprise their roles once again.
