Are Pokémon Scarlet and Violet open world?

Yes, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are open-world Pokémon games. The reveal trailer certainly teased it with sprawling areas, but it wasn't until the very end that it was confirmed by a final bit of on-screen text. Afterward, the official trailer description added a sliver of text which read "Welcome to the open world of Pokémon." Exciting!

The official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website goes a little further in saying "Towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders", which gives a hint as to how big the Paldea Region is, and how much you'll be able to explore - presumably without loading screens.

So far, we know that you'll be able to find Pokémon almost everywhere in the Region, including up in the sky and out at sea! In the latest trailer below, we are given a further look at different areas, including the ice-themed Gym, and locations of other events.
