Blizzard recently dropped their trailer for their upcoming Season 13. Dubbed the ‘Spellbinder’ Season, this latest event introduces new activities, fancy new skins, and a special tease for its 13th playable tank.
The trailer didn’t show his face and kit but gave us a name. ‘Phreak’ will be Overwatch 2’s latest tank after Mauga. From what we’ve seen and heard from the teaser, Phreak has a distinct Scottish accent and a knack for anarchy.
We still don't know the new tank’s skills, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Phreak. Keen-eyed Overwatch players already noticed his presence before the game’s official launch. He was mildly teased during last year’s BlizzCon, and now we see more of the character.
Reddit users quickly pointed out that this is the same Phreak they’ve seen before, as stated in this post. Although there’s no confirmation for his kit, he has a Cannon, a Stomp attack, and a mysterious ‘Attract’ ability. No one knows the extent of Phreak’s abilities yet, but we'll get more info soon before Season 13 ends.
Another Reddit post also noticed that the black spiky orb in Oasis has been destroyed or stolen. Fans theorize that this must be Phreak’s doing.
The Spellbinder Season marks another turning point for Overwatch 2. It has slowly regained its footing over the years, quickly regaining player trust after the disastrous cancellation of its PvE mode. Now, more and more players are itching to enter Overwatch 2.
The allure of its new battle pass system and consistent balance patches turned Overwatch 2 into a more active community than the original. Unfortunately, sacrifices had to be made, so they had to scrap the Loot Boxes in favor of its aggressive monetization.
Widowmaker will receive the latest Mythic Skin this Season. A Witch-like persona complements her deadly gaze. The skin accentuates both her lethality and her innocence. Widowmaker mains will want to get this as it includes a variety of unique sound and visual FX when aiming, shooting, and grappling.
Speaking of Mythic Skins, Season 13 also introduced a fancy way to flex those hard-earned Mythics. The new Gilded Skins feature can let you dish out more Prisms to turn your favorite Mythic into glittering gold.
Not only that, but a revamped Halloween Terror event will also have us test our skills in its brand-new PvP mode. Junkenstein’s Laboratory will be the first taste of Blizzard’s experimentation of ‘skill trees.’ Each match introduces cursed talent cards that can alter our hero abilities for better or worse. This makes the battlefield a chaotic and fun mess.
Overwatch 2’s Season 13 launches this October 15 for all consoles.
