Overwatch fans have no shortage of seasonal events to enjoy throughout the year, but there's one that hits slightly different. Whilst Halloween Terror was not the first seasonal event added to the game (that honour belongs to Summer Games) it did prove to be a key moment for the shooter back in 2016. That's mainly due to the addition of Junkenstein's Revenge, Overwatch‘s first PvE mode. To this day, Halloween Terror is still a firm fan favourite and has (in our opinion) some of the best skins. Here's everything you can expect to see with the Overwatch Halloween Terror event in 2022.

Overwatch Halloween Event 2022 Release Date

Thankfully, Blizzard's seasonal events normally operate like clockwork. There's a fairly consistent pattern to when they begin and end. So we simply need to look at when the events started in previous years to get a sense of when spooktacular event will kick off in 2022.

As we can see, Blizzard normally releases the Halloween Terror event in the second week of October. The only outlier is 2019, but that delay was likely linked to coincide with the game's release on Nintendo Switch.

With this in mind, it seems likely that Overwatch Halloween Terror 2022 will start on October 11, 2022. For the time being though this is just speculation, and we'll have to wait on an official announcement from Blizzard for confirmation.

What Modes and Events Are Available?

The yearly Overwatch Halloween Terror event has always reintroduced the classic co-operative PvE brawl mode, Junkenstein's Revenge. For anyone unfamiliar with the mode, players must choose between four characters (Ana, Hanzo, McCree, or Soldier: 76) and work together to defend the castle doors against Dr. Junkenstein's onslaught of shambling zomnics (zombie omnics). In addition, the game's Hollywood and Eichenwalde multiplayer maps get a spooky Halloween-themed makeover throughout the duration of the event.

As for what changes we could see in 2022, we'll have to wait to find out until nearer the time.

Overwatch Halloween Event Skins

As with every seasonal event there's a wide variety of new cosmetics added to the game for players to collect, including sprays, emotes, victory poses and so much more.

Naturally, new skins are what's most coveted, and whilst it's impossible to say which Overwatch characters will receive new skins, we normally see roughly 8 new skins with each event. Typically this is split between 5 new Legendary skins available in loot boxes, and 3 Epic skins that can only be earned through weekly challenges.

On top of however many new skins get added to the game, players will also be able to unlock all past Halloween Terror skins. Right now, that stands at a whopping 54 skins in total!
