How to increase storage in Palworld

While gathering resources in Palworld, you'll find a weight bar at the bottom of your screen, indicating the combined weight of your items. Crossing this limit triggers a message, "You’re weighed down by carrying too many items…," reducing your movement speed, which can be quite annoying.

To address this issue, you'll need to drop heavy items that you're carrying, which will pump up your movement speed back to normal. However, you should work on increasing your storage in your Palworld base, so this doesn't happen too frequently.

There is a way that you can increase your Weight stat, but it involves respeccing your character. You can unlock this later in the game, but let's find a quick solution for now.

You'll need to develop the habit of returning to your base and depositing surplus items in storage units. These are in the form of Chests, and you can construct as many of them as you want in your Palworld world, as long as you have the necessary materials.

Chests can be crafted without a structure and placed anywhere on the ground in your base. And what's more, these Chests can be password-protected, so that your items are safe even in online shared servers.

Crafting a basic Wooden Chest is among the initial skills you pick up when building a base in Palworld. The recipe unlocks at Player Level 2, and you can obtain it with a 1 Technology Point. Wooden Chests have 10 slots for storage.

Here are the materials that you need to craft a Wooden Chest in Palworld:

  • 15 Wood
  • 5 Stone

By increasing your Level with Technology Points, you'll be able to make more advanced chests that can store more items. So, you can replace the basic Wooden Chests that you've built, and have more space in your base.

Here are the advanced storage options that you can build as you level up:

  • Level eight: Unlocks the Wooden Tavern Cabinet Furniture Set, with 15 slots in the Wooden Barrel Shelf.
  • Level 13: Unlocks the Cooler Box, with 10 slots for preserving perishable items.
  • Level 14: Unlocks the Antique Storage Set, with 20 slots.
  • Level 16: Unlocks the Metal Chest, with 24 slots.
  • Level 39: Unlocks the Refined Metal Chest, with 40 slots.
