More than just “Pokemon with Guns”, PocketPair’s Palworld is one of the biggest games of the year with over 8 million sales on PC alone.
Combining Pokemon with the survival crafting of games like Valheim, Palworld lets you capture a complete Paldeck of lovable creatures, assign them jobs and give them the best Pal gear.
While the game may have driven some controversy over claims of plagiarism, some of which have caught the attention of Nintendo, Palworld has also been criticised for animal cruelty. With this in mind, fans of the game want more wholesome features to praise their pals for doing a good job.
At the moment, you can pet your pals in the game, but depressed or overworked Pals won’t come to you for support. In a popular Reddit thread, Palworld players asked PocketPair to let sad creatures request pets to improve their mood. After all, who’s going to say no?
“It would be so cool if they came to us looking for attention like how our real pets do,” a Palworld player said. “We can adjust the setting so only a few ones can come or the whole gang which would be so cute seeing that when visiting every base.”
The post instantly became popular on the Palworld subreddit with many supporting the feature request to make the game’s creatures feel more alive. Furthermore, other ways to reward pals for hard work could be implemented such as giving them gifts or taking them on walks around the base.
“I would like to build a friendship or loyalty level with pals,” another fan said. “Nothing complicated but maybe the longer they travel with you or the more you interact with them, they get a bonus that slows their sanity decrease rate.”
“I would also like to give them stuffies and have them run around with them, or like, throw balls for them,” said another.
At the time of writing, the Palworld roadmap hasn’t expressly stated more interactions for pals in the future. Currently, Palworld PvP and more creatures are at the top of the list of new features, but hopefully new interactions can be added as well.
Palworld is only available on Xbox and PC right now, but a Palworld PlayStation and Palworld Switch port could release sometime in the future. At the moment, PlayStation is actively looking into bringing the game to PS5. You can play Palworld on mobile, but just make sure you follow these warnings.
Palworld is currently in early access, but developer PocketPair is rapidly hiring staff to help improve the game. Hopefully, as time goes on, Palworld will let us properly take care of our pals and more.
