If you're jumping into Path of Exile 2, you likely already know how integral support gems are for amplifying your skills.

Since most skill gems start with only two support slots, you might wonder how to get more.

This guide will show you how to obtain those extra slots, allowing you to stack more support gems and ramp up your build.

How To Get More Support Gem Slots

The best way to get more support gem slots for your skill gems is by using Jeweller’s Orbs.

You can use the Lesser Jeweller’s Orb to add a third support gem socket to a skill gem that already has two.

If the skill gem you're working with already has multiple slots, a Greater or Grand Jeweller's Orb will need to be added more.

As you level up, you'll find upgraded Jeweller’s Orbs that let you expand your slots past the first few.

However, remember that once you use these orbs, you won’t be able to use them again.

This means you need to be careful with which skills you upgrade with extra support gem sockets since using an orb on the wrong one won’t do much for your build.

Finding Jeweller’s Orbs can be tricky, especially early on in the game.

Once you reach Act 3, you’ll see Lesser Jeweller’s Orbs drop.

You'll find these orbs by defeating rare enemies, opening chests, or taking down bosses.

You can find them anywhere, but they’re more common in higher-level spots like Cruel Difficulty.

If orbs are what you're after, moving forward into these acts helps.

Rare enemies with yellow names are more likely to drop Jeweller’s Orbs than regular or magic-tier ones.

On top of that, the more challenging bosses from Act 3 and up drop these orbs as well.

These tough enemies drop more Jeweller's Orbs and have a chance to drop better support gems as you get to the higher acts.

Some quests in the campaign reward you with Uncut Support Gems, which you can craft into support gems through the Gemcutting menu.

You can find uncut gems in both the main story and side quests, so always check the reward preview when accepting quests to see if any support gems are offered.

If you encounter a boss that you can defeat easily, make a mental note of its location so you can revisit it later for additional drops.

You'll run into better Jeweller’s Orbs as you level up, which means more chances to expand your skill gem slots.
