Mastering Spirit in Path of Exile 2 lets you unlock powerful abilities, like summoning minions and turning on buffs and auras that stick around.
This is a finite resource, so it must be managed wisely and strategically to maximize its potential.
This article will show you how to boost your Spirit and maximize it in Path of Exile 2.
How To Increase Spirit
Spirit is a one-time resource you use for skills that last, like auras, permanent buffs, or minions that hang around indefinitely.
While Life and Mana fill and empty during the game, Spirit works with a reservation system.
Once you set it, the Spirit reserved stays that way until you turn off the ability.
Managing your maximum Spirit is essential if you want to make the most of builds that use these long-lasting effects.
1. Take down Spirit-Boosted Bosses
As you play through the campaign, some bosses drop items that permanently boost your max Spirit when you use them.
These optional encounters usually appear on your map with a skull and a "+
" symbol, making them easy to find.
These are the bosses you’ll want to watch out for for Spirits:
- The King in the Mists (Act 1): During the "Ominous Altars" quest in Freythorn, defeating the boss will get you the Gembloom Skull, which gives a +30 Spirit boost.
- Ignagduk, the Bog Witch (Act 3): This boss in The Azak Bog drops the Gemrot Skull and gives you +30 Spirit when you beat it.
- Ignagduk, the Bog Witch (Act 6 - Cruel Difficulty): It's a stronger take on the Act 3 boss and drops the Gemcrust Skull with a bigger +40 Spirit boost.
Taking down these bosses is essential since they give you some of the best Spirit boosts during the campaign.
These battles usually reward you with some valuable loot, so it's worth taking on.
2. Gear Up with Something That Boosts Your Spirit
One of the best ways to boost your maximum Spirit in Path of Exile 2 is by equipping Spirit-enhancing gear.
Sceptres are solid for Spirit-focused builds since they give you +100 Spirit right off the bat.
When sceptres are unique or have extra modifiers, they become even more powerful and handy.
You can occasionally find Spirit bonuses on gear like amulets, body armor, and shields, but it’s not as common as with sceptres.
For example, the Ligurium Talisman gives you 25–35 Spirit, and rare armor pieces can do something similar.
Checking gear drops with Scrolls of Wisdom regularly makes sure you don’t miss any Spirit-boosting items.
While sceptres are the safest pick, keeping an eye out for other Spirit-boosting items can give your build some small gains.
3. Make the Most of the Infernalist Ascendancy
If you choose the Witch class, the Infernalist Ascendancy grants powerful abilities that scale with Spirit.
One to check out is Beidat’s Will, which gives you extra Spirit but costs 25% of your max Life. This skill provides you +1 Spirit for every 25 points of max Life.
This trade-off might come with some risks, but it can boost your Spirit pool, especially for Life builds.
The Infernalist Ascendancy has other abilities that fit this playstyle so that you can offset the Life reservation using health-boosting passives.
