There's no denying that the skill tree in Path of Exile 2 can feel like a lot to take in.

With so many options, picking a few passive skills you might regret later is easy.

Luckily, respeccing means you can go back and tweak your build whenever you need. This article will explain how to unlock and use the respec system.

How To Respec Skill Points

To unlock the respec system in Path of Exile 2, you just need to revive The Hooded One over at the Clearfell Encampment.

This is part of the main story, so you’ll need to finish the Act 1 quest, The Mysterious Shade.

As you go through this quest, you’ll run into tough fights with enemies like Asinia, Draven, and the final boss, Lachlann of Endless Lament.

These appear in areas for levels 7 to 15, so make sure your gear is up to par.

After taking down the enemies and grabbing the quest items, head back to Una in Clearfell to finish the quest and bring The Hooded One back to full strength.

After you revive The Hooded One, they stick around in Clearfell and let you reset your skill points whenever needed.

It should take 4–5 hours, depending on how quickly you work and whether you focus on the main story.

Respeccing skill points in Path of Exile 2 is pretty simple but makes a big difference when tweaking your build.

This system lets you reset passive skill points and put them in the skill tree somewhere else.

Respeccing costs gold for each point you refund, and the price goes up the deeper the point is in the tree.

You'll want to carefully plan your adjustments since respeccing an entire branch can get pricey quickly.

You can only refund points starting with the most recent, so you’ll have to work backward through the tree to remove earlier skills.

You can change your setup whenever you need, as long as you’ve got the gold to spare.

However, since Ascendancy points are pricey (five times the cost of standard ones), don’t rush into choosing.

Sometimes, you just have to redo your build to keep up with new gear, fix issues, or test fresh playstyles.

It might cost a bit, but it makes sure players aren’t locked into their early choices, so they can adjust their builds and tackle new challenges without worry.

If you plan smart and spend your gold wisely, you’ll get a lot more out of this system and have a better time overall.
