Ghost hunting in Phasmophobia is about to get even better with Kinetic Games' plans for 2025.
Now that the game's out on PC and consoles, the devs are focused on fine-tuning the gameplay, giving maps a fresh look, and bringing back seasonal events with some new surprises. The roadmap lays out updates, reworked areas, and new content to keep things interesting throughout the year. The first major update, Chronicle, will refine the way players collect and store evidence.
The Journal's Photos section is being updated with a new Media tab. This will categorize photos, videos, and sound recordings so that investigations will be more detailed than ever. Players can use the new Sound Recorder to capture strange sounds and eerie voices and then review them in the Journal.
To balance things, a reward system is also in place: the first unique capture of an event gets bigger rewards, and duplicates give you less. Chronicle puts the focus on the revamped evidence system, but Kinetic Games has hinted at additional features being unveiled closer to launch. Later in 2025, Phasmophobia will roll out a player character upgrade with better models, smoother animations, and improved movement.
It's still unclear if this update will fix the infamous "bendy backs" bug, where characters twist into strange positions. This year's updates also include major map changes, with both new locations and updates to existing ones. There's a new, smaller map coming this year, but Kinetic Games is keeping things hush-hush for now.
This map promises to be a completely new experience, featuring a setting that differs from the rest of the lineup. Maps like Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse, and Tanglewood Drive are receiving visual and structural updates to meet modern expectations. Phasmophobia's seasonal events are returning, but this time with some tweaks based on what players asked for.
- Easter Event
- Halloween Event
- Winter Event
Players can also expect personal rewards, making the seasonal challenges even more tempting to take on.
