This Pokémon X Animal Crossing Crossover is the Cutest Nintendo's Ever Been

Have you ever wanted a Pokémon version of Animal Crossing? Nintendo fan and talented 3D artist SpicyBeefu imagined a perfect mix of the two properties and graciously shared it online.

We’ve seen awesome real Pokémon fan games like Pokémon Yellow Legacy and the stunning roguelite PokeRogue, but SpicyBeefu’s Pokémon x Animal Crossing is only a concept of what Nintendo could do.

Shared on Twitter, the adorable crossover turns players’ favorite pocket monsters into Animal Crossing villagers with their own looks, personalities, and charming outfits.

Starting with the cutest little Wooper in a raincoat, SpicyBeefu’s Pokémon x Animal Crossing crossover shows the little water monster splashing in puddles before smiling at viewers.

“I love jumping in puddles,” it says, tugging at everyone’s heartstrings.

Another video of the same concept shows players interacting with an Animal Crossing version of Vulpix on its way to ZizgaGo, this parallel universe’s shop. However, it’s revealed that it’s Valentine’s Day, and Vulpix quickly receives a kimono as a present. It’s too cute!

Other videos show a lone Cubone fishing at a lake, a Mareep giving players a stone it found, a Cyndaquil calling, and a Teddiursa exercising. It’s all so winsome it’s almost too much to handle.

These sweet videos combine Nintendo’s two cutest franchises into one of the best fan projects we’ve ever seen, but it means there isn’t a real Pokémon X Animal Crossing game we can play anytime soon. Knowing Nintendo, there likely won’t be a crossover of this style ever, despite how badly we (and everyone else) would love to play it.

At this point, it’s uncertain when the next Animal Crossing game will release. We hope it’ll be one of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch titles, but that’s a bigger pipe dream than this crossover at this point.

On the other hand, a new Pokémon title is in development. Dubbed Pokémon Legends Z-A, this new Switch game takes players back to Kalos, but only in one location: Luminous City. Set to release in 2025, this could be the shot in the arm the franchise needs.
