PlayStation 5 Showcase: UK Price and Release Date and Every Announcement

This article contains information about the 'release-date' of either a movie, game or product. Unless stated explicitly, release dates are speculative & subject to change. See something wrong? Contact us here

It's the day Sony PlayStation 5 fans have been waiting for, ever since the company first unveiled the gorgeous looking PS5 next-gen console back in June.

Sorry, 'consoles', after all, Sony now has a shiny new digital edition to release this Christmas alongside their standard PS5 console.

However, so far, we're still none the wiser when it comes to several highly important details.

Namely: when this next-gen machine is coming to our shops, when we can pre-order and most importantly, how much cold hard cash Sony wants us to part to pay for the new console.

PS5 Release dates, PS5 Pre-order dates, and PS5 prices. That's the key three details we're all on tenterhooks to discover later this evening.

Given Xbox has already revealed their hand with the price and release date for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, it seems a sure-fire bet that Sony will reply with their own confirmed details and specs.

For the time being, here's a quick rundown of what you need to know ahead of tonight's event.

The PlayStation Plus Collection

A new perk for members on PS5, fans will get a series of titles including Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Days Gone, Detroit, and a whole lot more.

Basically, it looks as though if it was a big PS4 game, it'll be included and playable at launch, via download.

Fortnite Will Be Available on PS5 at Launch

Enough said, really.

Demon's Souls Remake Gameplay

Bluepoint's Remake looks, as you'd imagine, stunning.

It also looks as if combat will lose none of the weightiness and challenge that fans have come to appreciate from the franchise.

Prepare to die all over again.

UPDATE: It'll be a PS5 launch title.

Five Nights At Freddy's: Security Breach Coming To PS5

The hit horror title is coming to PS5, but no date was given.

Oddworld Soulstorm

A new trailer for the puzzle/platformer is here.

No release date.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition

The excellent PS4 and Xbox One title is coming to next-gen!

It'll be available digitally at launch. You know, whenever that is...

Deathloop Launches Q2 2021

The game I'm most looking forward to with next-gen, Deathloop just gets better every time I see it.

It's got Dishonored's awesome teleportation, along with a story about being stuck in a time loop where players need to kill multiple targets in one 24 hour period.

It's got an awesome 70s movie vibe, too.

It'll be a PS5 console exclusive.

Resident Evil Village New Trailer

Or should that be VIIlage? I don't know, but what I do know is there's a werewolf and a really creepy old lady.

Looks like we'll be exploring not just a village, but a Bloodborne-looking castle, too.

Coming in 2021.

Black Ops Cold War Alpha Kicks Off On Friday!

PS4 players will be able to jump in this week!

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Campaign Gameplay

We're getting a look at gameplay footage of the game's campaign.

I remember when Ghosts was announced at an Xbox One event, and it felt hugely underwhelming.

This already looks incredible, with the player able to take a human shield, then pull the pin from their grenade, or execute them.

Oh, and the RC-XD is back and looks more fun to drive than ever.

Harry Potter RPG Revealed, It'll Be Called Hogwarts Legacy

The long-awaited and terribly-hidden RPG from Avalanche has finally been announced with an incredible deep dive trailer.

It'll launch in 2021.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales Still Coming Holiday 2020

We're getting actual gameplay from Insomniac's follow-up to the 2018 game.

The Tinkerer looks to be the baddie this time around, and she's got some cool toys to play with.

Looks like Miles has learned a few tricks from Peter Parker, but has a few of his own, including a way to send enemies flying into the air with a shockwave and the ability to turn invisible.

As with the 2018 game, the action is punctuated by some stunning set-pieces.

Give me a moment

Ok, I'm still reeling from that.

Big energy from Sony right now.

Everything henceforth is captured on PS5.

Final Fantasy 16 Announced

A new Final Fantasy game with real-time action combat and some huge monsters.

And yes, there are Chocobos.

It'll be a PlayStation console exclusive.

Captured on PC

Sony notes that the content here is being captured on a PC.

Let's Go!

Nice little sizzle real showing off just a few of the games we saw at the last event.

One Minute To Go

Are you excited? I'm excited.

After Microsoft essentially playing their entire hand last week, this could be Sony's last chance to convince us PS5 is the best place to play.

Welcome!

Our live blog will be kicking off at 9 PM BST when the show starts.

I'll be doing my best to cover as much as possible, and we'll be adding some shiny new trailers and the like to this page as often as we can, so be sure to refresh the page!

What time is the PS5 event today?

Sony's PlayStation 5 Event takes place today, September 16, 2020.

In terms of what time you want to park yourself in front of a screen, make sure you block out your schedule at 1 pm PDT, 4 pm EDT, 9 pm BST, 10 pm CEST.

Sony plans to show everything on Twitch and YouTube, so you can watch everything as it's revealed on the links or with the embedded player just below.

What else can we expect from the PS5 event?

Today's PlayStation 5 livestream is supposedly a whopping 40 minutes long. So we're likely getting a whole lot more from the event besides the key details mentioned above.

Fingers crossed we'll see plenty of first and third-party game reveals to complement those games we've already been promised by Sony.

So if you're harboring hopes for God of War 2, a new Final Fantasy, or even something incredibly unlikely, like a new Silent Hill (we can dream).

Equally, we might see some deeper dives into those PS5 titles that were already confirmed in June.

So it could be a good evening for fans of the Demon Soul's Remake or Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. We've already had a deeper look at the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, so it seems only right that those other big tentpole releases get a better showing.

Stay tuned for all the biggest Sony PS5 news, later today!
