PS5 To Gain 8K Support In The Future

With a new console generation on the horizon, you'd be right in hunting down every scrap of information on the Playstation 5.

Luckily, tis the season for rumors, leaks, and hints.

Now, we are within the storm that is the next-generation console release week.

With so much going on, Sony started the week off with a bang, as they released the 'Ultimate FAQ'.

There was a lot to unpack within this blog post, but one aspect stuck out among the rough.

8K is coming and here's what Sony had to say regarding it!

8K GAMING

Most gamers picking up the PS5 are aware that the PS5 can support 4K at 120 FPS, which is quite the step for console gaming.

However, most of us do not have access to 4K gaming at the moment as it is still pricy for the return.

This has not stopped Sony, however, as they have confirmed that 8K support for the PS5 will come in a future update.

This was noted within their Ultimate FAQ, which can be viewed here.

Sony noted the following:

PS5 is compatible with 8K displays at launch, and after a future system software update will be able to output resolutions up to 8K when content is available, with supported software.

So, if you are lucky enough to own an 8K display; you will be able to use it at launch.

But, will have to wait a while before the full support functionality is there.

This also comes off the surprise discovering that the PS5 does not support Variable Refresh Rate upon launch.

Perhaps the two features will be implemented in the same patch later in the future!
