PUBG Mobile Has Been Banned In India

PUBG Mobile has been banned in India, despite being one of the most popular games in the country.

The battle royale smash hit was hit with the ban hammer alongside over one hundred other apps published by Chinese companies.

PUBG Mobile Banned In India

PUBG Mobile is so popular in India that it has been linked to poor exam results and even deaths, and the government has received numerous calls for a ban in the past.

Back in 2019, Police arrested a group of students playing the mobile game in a region where it was already banned.

The game was one of 119 apps that have been banned by the country's Interior Ministry due to concerns over the game's security. The apps are claimed to be "prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, Security of State and Public Order."

TechCrunch notes that other banned apps include popular messaging application WeChat Work, as well as other launchers and games including Rise of Kingdoms, Baidu, APUS launcher and more.

India has already banned TikTok back in June but has now prevented a VPN for the service, too.

The news comes as Apple and Epic Games, developers of Fortnite, are locked in a legal battle. With Fortnite removed from the App Store, Apple promoted PUBG Mobile on the store's homepage last week.

The PS4 version of PUBG is included in this month's PlayStation Plus games.
