Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new limited-time event mode called MUTE Protocol, Ubisoft announced in a press release. The season-two event goes live tomorrow, August 4, and runs through August 17.
A futuristic variant of the familiar Secure Area mode, MUTE Protocol takes place on a spruced-up version of Tower. Teams of five will either attack or defend, with one side controlling Comm Tower and the other trying to take it over.
MUTE Protocol Details and Rewards
“Even for players who are used to playing Secure Area, MUTE Protocol’s new game mode is unique,” the publisher says, “as it is based on a brand-new feature: Morphing. On the attacking side, players will have to secure two areas, and will be able to switch between Operator and Drone forms by entering and exiting Observation Tools. On the defending side, Operators will be able to use bulletproof cameras to travel digitally through the network.”
Players will have 41 Operators to choose from. The characters Blitz, Caveira, Clash, Dokkaebi, Goyo, Maestro, Montagne, Mozzie, Mute, Thatcher, Twitch, and Valkyrie have been disabled “for gameplay reasons.”
The two-week event also introduces 26 cosmetic rewards, including skins for Jackal, Lion, Kapkan, Mira, Mute, Oryx, Vigil, and Ying. These items can be earned either by playing or by purchasing randomized event packs, which cost 300 R6 Credits or 12,500 Renown. There are also special bundles available; these cost 1,680 R6 Credits apiece.
Year Five Pass subscribers will get a 10% discount on event bundles and packs.
