It looks like fans are losing their patience with Battlefield 2042 as the game reached a new record low, with the Steam player count dropping below 1,000 for the first time. This is a very bad sign for a live-service multiplayer-only shooter and the lack of Season 1 isn’t helping things either.
SteamDB (via VGC) revealed that Battlefield 2042 dropped to 1,000, which is a new low for the series. As of today, the game has managed to go back up to 1,042 players but that’s just barely making the cut and it’s clear that some major changes are needed to keep this game alive.

Battlefield 2042 Reaches Record Low With Less Than 1,000 Concurrent Steam Players
Unfortunately, this is one of many lows for Battlefield 2042 as the game hasn’t been received well by either fans or critics. While the game’s focus on multiplayer and live service led many to believe that it could get fixed in the future, the lack of proper communication and meaningful updates has led to a lot of frustrated players.
Battlefield 2042 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
