Red vs Blue: Restoration will return to the Blood Gulch crew as they save the galaxy from a returning villain in one more bombastic, final adventure. Here’s the official synopsis:
“When the universe’s greatest villain returns in a terrifying new form, old adversaries, the Reds and Blues of Blood Gulch, will have to set aside their differences to save the galaxy one last time.”
A teaser trailer released by Rooster Teeth shows the iconic reds and blues banding together, alongside the returning AI Epsilon, to battle The Meta, the villain of the series’ Recollection Trilogy.
With Rooster Teeth being closed down by Warner Bros after 21 years, the final season of the show that started the beloved internet company will not debut on its website. Instead, fans will be able to purchase the feature-length finale for on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu and more for $14.99. It will be available to rent digitally on May 21 for $4.99.
Red vs Blue: Restoration will also be one of the shorter entries in the series coming in at just 87 minutes. Expect a short, but sweet, finale to one of the internet's most beloved shows.
Red vs Blue originally debuted in 2003 with the release of “Why Are We Here?”, a short video featuring Red Army soldiers Griff and Simmons wondering why they were fighting another team with a base in a boxed canyon whilst Blue Army soldiers Church and Tucker spy on them with a sniper rifle.
Over the franchises 21-year history, fans saw the group travel through time, engage in high-octane action fight scenes animated by RWBY creator Monty Oum and even break the universe apart so that pizza never existed. The franchise got so renowned it was even featured in an episode of Jeopardy.
Hopefully, with the release of Restoration, the Blood Gulch Crew will have a strong finale, and finally find out why they’re here.
