Remnant 2 max trait points

To get right to the chase, Remnant 2 players can have a maximum of 85 trait points.

There are some caveats though, because you get five trait points pre-spent by your primary archetype. More so, each archetype has a unique trait which starts at one, and that number increases every time you manage to level up an archetype until you hit level nine. Then at level 10, that trait becomes permanently unlocked on that character, but you still need to spend 10 points to max out that trait unless you have that archetype equipped.

So, it’s important to note that 20 of the 85 trait points are automatically assigned to a player’s archetype traits (i.e. primary and secondary archetype only).

Let’s illustrate this more clearly by using an example from the game itself. You’ve got the Medic’s key trait being Triage, which levels up the character’s healing ability by 5% per trait point. Furthermore, as alluded to earlier, you get five points automatically spent by your primary archetype, which leaves a total of 60 trait points for a player to earn and distribute how they see fit.

How do you get trait points in Remnant 2?

Remnant 2 differs greatly in this area from its predecessor, which is a welcome change for most. More particularly, in Remnant 1 you could have over 800 trait points, which could be utilised even after collecting every piece of equipment and unlocking everything there is to unlock in that series of the game, no matter the sort of archetype you chose.

In this game, once you’ve selected an archetype in the sequel, you’re locked into that specific progression path until you find another archetype which you can divert to.

Now, there are a few ways to collect more trait points in Remnant 2, which can be summed up as:

  • Defeating bosses
  • Completing game objectives
  • Taking on new archetypes

Probably the easiest method would be to complete the different encounters present in the game, as each one offers the player a chance at acquiring a new trait. Alternatively, you could try to level up each archetype to level 10, after which one can unlock the specific archetype trait to be used with any other archetype.
