Should you join the Ark or not in Remnant 2?

Upon entering N'Erud, you will encounter a being behind glass who asks you to bring some Soul Sparks. Once you've done so, you'll be looking for another entrance to the Forgotten Prison. Here you'll encounter the N'Erud world boss, Tal'Ratha. But the boss will first converse with you, talking about the subjects of free will and destiny.

In this discussion, he'll offer you two choices: To be eaten and "become immortal" or decline and have to fight him. Subsequently, both choices aren't right or wrong, so it's up to you to decide how the benefits of either choice will appeal to you more.

What happens if you join the Ark and let Tal'Ratha eat you in Remnant 2?

While the concept of immortality is tempting, once the boss consumes you, you'll wake up and fight Tal'Ratha in its metaphysical form. Your goal is to beat it to get the rewards waiting for you. Once you come away victorious, you'll be able to get an Acidic Jawbone crafting material that can help you craft the Gas Giant melee weapon.

What happens if you don't join the Ark in Remnant 2?

So in this choice, rejecting Tal'Ratha's offer will still involve you fighting him. Here, the area that surrounds you and Tal'Ratha will turn into an arena where you must do battle. However, choosing not to join the ark will reward you with Spiced Bile, which can be used in crafting the Nebula handgun.

But either way, you'll still have to fight Tal'Ratha in some way. The differences in the choices you have all boils down to the rewards that come with each option. So if you enjoy a melee combat style, then join the ark of Tal'Ratha. But if you'd rather have another ranged weapon, take on the challenge to defeat the boss in its original form. Once you succeed, you can then go back to the Labyrinth and carry on to the next world in the game.
