Resolution Games are no strangers to Virtual Reality gaming. Having previously brought us Blaston, Acron: Attack of the Squirrels, and Demeo, we've now got a look at their project, Ultimechs, a mech-based multiplayer sports game.
Arriving in 2022, Resolution describes Ultimechs as the "sport of the future.” Offering an arena-based premise, you'll be punching a ball into goals with rocket propelled fists, featuring (at least) 2v2 teams. In a sense, it looks like VR Rocket League and is reminiscent of Guerrilla Cambridge's RIGS.

Resolution Games Announce Ultimechs, a VR Multiplayer Sports Game
Otherwise, we've not seen much in terms of gameplay so far. The announcement trailer, which you can view below, is very much a brief teaser, giving us a brief glimpse at how the rocket system works.
Speaking in a press release, Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games, confirmed:
With Ultimechs we have created an entirely new gameplay mechanic that could only exist in the immersive world of VR. Sure anyone can kick a ball into a net, but only in the world of Ultimechs can you and your mech punch it in by firing a rocket fist and controlling the trajectory as you follow along its path. And that just scratches the surface of Ultimechs. We’ve really stretched the boundaries of what can be done in VR in this game, and we can’t wait to share more details.
Right now, we'll have to wait for further details. Ultimechs' trailer confirms a launch for all major VR platforms, though it doesn't state which. Likely, that'll include Oculus Quest 2, HTC Vive, Project Cambria, PS5's VR Headset and SteamVR. We'll keep you informed as we learn more.
