In Rocket League, players drive racing cars on a large field and try to score a huge ball into the opponents' goal. Despite the simple gameplay, the game has amassed a large fan base. Therefore, in this hub, we will tell you all the known Rocket League 2 news and what we'd love to see.

Rocket League 2 news

Considering the general popularity of the game, players are no doubt wondering whether the studio plans to create Rocket League 2. But in this matter, everything is a bit complicated. Psyonix has not announced the development of a sequel to their game. However, it did not refute the various guesses of the fans relating to a sequel. However, we tend to believe that the developers are not going to release Rocket League 2.

The main reason for this is that the original game is still very popular. Every day more and more players join the football races. Various esports tournaments help make the game even more famous.

Millions of people around the world customise their cars and fight in different modes in Rocket League. It doesn't make any sense for Psyonix to release a new game, at least in the next few years. So far, the studio is focused on supporting their game and adding new events, cosmetics, modes, and other content.

It is almost certain that Rocket League 2 won't appear for at least five years.

The secret to Rocket League's success

Back in 2008, Psyonix released the predecessor to Rocket League, called Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Car for PlayStation 3. Unfortunately or fortunately, the game didn't get much publicity in those days. Although Battle-Car found its fans, Psyonix decided to raise funds and create a sequel.

In 2015, the studio finally released Rocket League, which was destined for success. After all, what could be more fun than driving jet cars and playing huge football with friends? By 2017, the game became available on almost all gaming platforms.

More importantly, the game features cross-play and cross-progress. So no matter what you play on, you can progress in Rocket Pass and increase your rank in ranked matches. Also, the game has a large number of customisation options that allow players to create absolutely unique cars.

What we'd love to see in Rocket League 2

Although there is no official information about the development of Rocket League 2, there is a chance that Psyonix may work on a sequel in the future. If such a title does come out sometime, we would like it to be a little different from the original Rocket League.

Rocket League gets updates quite often. With each new update, developers fix bugs and errors. However, they cannot change some global things due to the limitations of the game engine. Therefore, the release of the sequel may be an opportunity for them to make some sweeping changes. Below, you can check out five things we would love to see in Rocket League 2.

Full cross-play and improved graphics

Although Rocket League has cross-play, it is not available across all devices. Moreover, Rocket League Sideswipe is more of a separate title. We think it would be cool if we could play together with friends no matter what platform we use.

Moreover, if Psyonix creates Rocket League 2 on a new engine, it will open up many new opportunities, in particular for improving graphics. For example, developers can make cars more realistic and arenas destructible. They can also add new tricks that players can do with their cars.

Rocket League on mobile

Rocket League Sideswipe is an exciting game for mobile devices. However, it is not as exciting as the original Rocket League. Therefore, we would like Rocket League 2 to be available for mobile devices just like for other platforms.

Storyline

Of course, Rocket League is more of a competitive game. However, if Rocket League 2 has a story about how this sport was created, it would certainly appeal to many. On top of that, we believe that it is necessary to add the possibility of cooperative play to story mode.

Collaborations and new modes

There were already collaborations in the original game. However, they are not enough. We'd love to see something in the Fortnite style. Various collaborations events with limited rewards will be able to bring even more new players into the game.

While there are so many modes in Rocket League, we don't think there are enough of them either. Of course, a game shouldn't have 100 different modes. However, it would be cool if the developers added modes to the game that get changed after a certain time.

More new cars

Cars in Rocket League are your characters. Therefore, the more of them in the game, the more fun it is to play. We'd love to see more old-school cars, and cars from other franchises like the Runner from Borderlands.

That's all we know so far about the development of Rocket League 2. Although there are no official comments from Psyonix, we hope a sequel may release one day. While you are still here, make sure to check our list of the best free action games.
