Rocket League returns with another promotional event, this time to celebrate the Lunar New Year and Lantern Festival with Lucky Lanterns!

Get ready to start 2020 in style as Lucky Lanterns offers brand new rewards, items and the debut of the Forbidden Temple Map.

So what does this new Rocket League event have in-store? Here are the latest details on Lucky Lanterns.

What Is Lucky Lanterns?

Lucky Lanterns is the first 2020 event of the year for Rocket League, arriving just over a week after Frosty Fest ended.

The event is to celebrate the Lunar New Year, which takes place on the 25th January 2020.

As is the trend with these events, Rocket League will offer event-specific cosmetics as well as items from the Champions Series.

The Forbidden Temple map is now available to the public in online matches.

The event offers players a chance to earn in-game items by earning currency. Currency is awarded for playing matches (casual or competitive)

 

Release Date

The event begins on the 20th January 2020 and will be available for all platforms.

Some of the key dates and times are as follows:

  • Lucky Lanterns begins: January 20, 2020 10 a.m. PST (6:00 p.m. UTC)
  • Lucky Lanterns ends: February 10, 2020 at 10 a.m. PST (6:00 p.m. UTC) 
  • Redeem Red Envelopes by: February 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.PST (6:00 p.m. UTC)

The event will end on the 10th February 2020.

 

Items

Ther are plenty of Lucky Lanterns themed items up for grabs.

You can also earn additional items in the Golden Lanterns. These cost 150 Red Envelopes (1,145 to be earned) and will reward you with a random item from the Champions Series (1, 2 or 3) - you can only purchase 5.
