MacOS And Linux Support Ending
The Psyonix team has stated that “...the final patch for the macOS and Linux versions of the game will be in March”.
The news has spread like wildfire on the official Rocket League Reddit over the last couple days.
A vast number of players and community members have conveyed their displeasure in this controversial choice, as well as giving their views on the future of the game.
On top of this, many Redditors said they are seeking refunds out of not wanting to support the company-with hundreds stating they refuse to purchase any further items-including the rocket pass.
The lack of communication from developers on the matter seems to be one of the main problems at hand.
With funding being cut to certain operating systems, various accounts with a large audience in the esports scene have openly said they will no longer advertise the competitive side of the game.
Nothing has been confirmed regarding the developers’ next moves, it will be interesting to see if/how the company behind the game responds to this negativity going forward.
Other Changes We Could See
There has also been speculation that this will be the first stage in implementing Anti-Cheat software to the Windows version of Rocket League.
Epic Games are known for such software due to making it clear that they use it in their most popular game: Fortnite.
Reddit user 024Wheatley420 said that “Epic will most certainly add it, just for the potential data gain”.
The addition of new software could massively change the format of the game and tournaments as we know it.
