Rocksteady's last game, Batman: Arkham Knight, served as the final instalment in that franchise (although the series is rumoured to be continuing through WB Montreal, which could also be shown at the event).

The game's focus on the Suicide Squad was previously leaked (via Eurogamer), along with the title "Kill the Justice League". Given the crosshairs on Supes' head, it's perhaps not far from the mark.

Industry insider @Nibellion reported that the game is rumored to be a Games as a Service title, with online co-op elements.

Given that the Arkham franchise was squarely a single-player series (outside of Arkham: Origins, not developed by Rocksteady), that comes as somewhat of a surprise. Still, with players presumably taking control of multiple members of the titular team, there's a good chance we'll be using different abilities.

Fan responses have been predictably mixed. Many were hoping for something that focuses on alternative heroes in the DC Universe, while others are happy that the Suicide Squad are getting the TLC that the 2016 movie didn't offer.

The studio's publisher, WB Interactive, is allegedly up for sale. Microsoft is rumoured to be interested in purchasing it, while EA and Activision are also circling.

With Marvel's Spider-Man, the upcoming Miles Morales standalone, Marvel's Avengers and now potentially two DC projects being close to full reveals, it really feels as though superhero videogames are approaching their very own Silver Age.
