Sand Land, Bandai Namco’s post-apocalyptic RPG based on Akira Toriyama’s iconic manga, releases on modern systems on April 26th.
Coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC (but not Xbox One), the RPG marks the first time Toriyama’s story has been adapted since its 2000 debut.
Sand Land follows Beelzebub, the Thief, and Sheriff Rao in a post apocalyptic world ravaged by decades of war and environmental disasters. Created long after the ending of Dragon Ball Z, the story is just one of many underrated Toriyama stories that have released over the years.
Bandai Namco’s video game adaptation of the niche Toriyama story is certainly unique. Essentially an anime version of Mad Max, the game focuses on giving players a large degree of vehicle customisation for bikes, cars and — as any Sand Land fan will love — main battle tanks.
In the game, you’ll explore many regions of the apocalyptic world. While there is a hefty amount of sand-filled desert to explore, you’ll also find rebuilt civilisations, gorgeous forests and sparkling oases. All of this is brought to life in a 3D recreation of Akira Toriyama’s iconic art style, the same art style that has given Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest and more worldwide acclaim.
Alongside the announcement of the game’s release date, Bandai Namco released a brand new trailer of the anime RPG. In the trailer, you can see a large number of gorgeous environments from the game as well as get a glimpse of the story you’ll be playing through. Check it out below.
Sand Land releases on Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC on April 26, 2024. There’s currently no plans for a Nintendo Switch version of the game.
