November 29, 2023: Wanderer's banner is now released.

What do we know so far about Genshin Impact Scaramouche? Scaramouche is an upcoming playable character in Mihoyo's massive open-world game, though he's also shrouded in mystery.

The self-proclaimed Wanderer from Inazuma first appeared during an early in-game event in 2020 and established himself as an antagonist. Since that point, fans have been awaiting his release. And good news, Wanderer is now available in the game.

If you're looking for more guides to help you out in Inazuma, we've also got a full list of Sakura Bloom locations and Electroculus locations, as well as an Ayaka build guide.

What is the Wanderer release date?

The Wanderer, also known as Scaramouche, has been released last year on December 7 with his own 5-Star banner. He will be joined by an Arataki Itto rerun, and a new 4-Star Faruzan, acting as a support unit for him.

What do we know about Scaramouche as a playable character?

The Wanderer is an Anemo user, that has a Catalyst. His playable kit is starting to look very interesting. His elemental skill is to create an Anemo ring, as he levitates and attacks from above. The ring disperses into a fog during his burst. It seems that his elemental burst can provide buffs depending on any other elements involved with it; Pyro raises attack skills, Hydro lengthens the duration, and Cryo can raise the CRIT rate of attacks.

His constellations, named Peregrinus, seem to work towards improving speed and attack, and reducing cooldown. His attacks have been likened to Venti and Raiden's so far.

Scaramouche weapon in Genshin Impact

Scaramouche will use a Catalyst and be best for melee like the recently released Shikanoin Heizou. As a 5-Star, Scaramouche will release alongside a new 5-Star weapon which will play to his strengths. A recent leak showed off a 5-Star Catalyst named Alaya, which has some serious elemental combat buffs. This will likely be Wanderer's weapon.

For now what we can recommend are the following Catalysts:

Which artifacts should Scaramouche use?

It is still early to speculate on which artifacts we'll be best using for Scaramouche, and as a pivotal 5-Star release, there is every chance that a new set will be released just for him.

The Gladiator set seems to be a good choice, as does the Viridescent Venerer, to add attack and defense or Anemo damage.

What is Scaramouche's elemental vision?

Scaramouche's vision is now confirmed as Anemo. The story explains how he comes to leave his Electro vision behind, and why Anemo is now his new element of choice.

What materials will Scaramouche need?

More of Scaramouche's requirements and kit have leaked recently, and we've had a look at what we'll need to farm ahead of his release as a playable character:

  • Vayuda Turquoise gems
  • Rukkhashava mushrooms
  • Perpetual Caliber (dropped by the Aeonblight Drake)
  • Old, Kageuchi, and Famed Handguards
  • Teachings of, Guides to, Philosophies of Praxis

What do we know about the Scaramouche as The Balladeer's boss fight?

Scaramouche's boss fight - now confirmed to be named Shouki no Kami - has been anticipated for a long time, and we've finally got a hold of what it's like. It was added during the Genshin Impact 3.2 weekly boss, and part of the 3.2 story.

We see the main element of The Balladeer's attacks as Electro, but like other bosses, he has other elements under his control too. Expect Pyro and Cryo coming your way, and prepare your shield characters.

The boss itself is huge and is the biggest enemy the Travelers will have come across in Teyvat so far. It is bound to be very, very frightening with its thunderbolts and lightning.

Scaramouche was introduced during an event quest in 2020; the Unreconciled Stars. It was here that he met the Traveler, and attempted to strike them down, only to be stopped by astrologist Mona helping the Traveler to escape. He then disappeared from the story for a while.

We don't see him for over a year, until Inazuma's story quest, specifically at the point where the Traveler investigates the Delusion factory. He is the one running the operation and at the end of the dungeon, attempts to turn Traveler into Delusion materials. Yae Miko thankfully saves the day and brokers a deal with him for the Raiden Shogun's Gnosis - aka, the colourful chess-piece-shaped thing that all of the Seven have.

Speaking of the Raiden Shogun, this brings us to Scaramouche's creation: he was actually a test run for the creation of a puppet now used as the Raiden Shogun. That is to say, he's not a real human. This may explain his somewhat pointy personality and why he doesn't play well with others.

He is the 6th of the Fatui Harbingers - the Balladeer - after ascending through the ranks thanks to his unique talents. He was not seen in the trailer featuring all of the Harbingers, as he has cut ties with them and disappeared after the Delusion factory fiasco.

You'll be pleased to know that in his few existing lines and titles, there are plenty of references to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody - possibly the only other recognisable media featuring the term 'scaramouche'.

When is the Genshin Impact Scaramouche release date?

Scaramouche was released last year, at December 7, 2023. He is a 5-Star with his own banner.

The old version 3.1 introduced him back into the story, and version 3.2 is where his boss fight will come in. Like Tartaglia and Raiden Shogun, we need to get this out of the way first before we can play as the 'redeemed' character!
