The fourth season of post-launch content for Vanguard is on the horizon and following a disastrous Season 3, players are hoping Sledgehammer Games can inject some life into multiplayer and Zombies with the Season 4 update.
Alongside the return of Shi No Numa, there is a wealth of new guns and weapons joining the arsenal. While they are new to the game, the appearance of the Marco 5 and the UGM-8 light machine gun (LMG) is leading to many members of the community sharing their frustrations.
Rather than expanding underused categories, players are annoyed with another set of similar weapons arriving.
Lack of Weapon Variety Annoys Vanguard Players
Following the unveiling of the Season 4 roadmap, many quickly noticed that the upcoming season will be one with a lack of variety. Throughout the Vanguard cycle, seasonal updates have included three SMGs that all behave in a similar matter.
Even with the new content, it fails to usurp the immensely powerful MP40 which continues to dominate the multiplayer meta. To showcase the lack of variety, Reddit user 'Theworldrotates' shares an image showing similar content from the past three seasons.
"We do not need another SMG," says the user. It's not just SMGs that are causing a problem. "Back to back, we've gotten similar function LMGs" referring to the arrival of the Whitley which in fact appeared in Season 2.
Others in the comments point out that there's still a huge amount of iconic World War II weaponry that doesn't feature in Vanguard. "I want the FG-42 and the Springfield," says another frustrated player. "I'm pretty sure Arthur is holding a Lee Enfield on the box art," implying there's still more content to come.
Whether Sledgehammer Games takes the feedback on board is another matter but it's evident to see that players are desperate for more variety. While we wait for some more eccentric weapons to arrive, check out our Vanguard page for the latest news, leaks, and guides.
