Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and SEGA have been cooking something incredible for the fans of the Yakuza franchise.
Clad with a pirate hat and coat, Majima Goro embarks on a new journey across the Pacific Ocean with the studio’s latest game, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
Set to release on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox, and PC this coming February 28, 2025, the brand new installment for the series features pirate Majima as its main protagonist against various enemies, as shown in the trailer SEGA released today.
The game will come in three different editions and pre-orders will give players Ichiban Kasuga as an additional pirate crew for Majima, along with Ichiban’s pet crawfish Nancy, and some pirate outfits. Legendary crewmates, additional ship customization parts, and an extra karaoke song are a few of the additional contents players can have if they purchase either the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Editions.

The Yakuza series are not newbies when it comes to over-the-top Yakuza narratives and combat. The new game cements SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku as veterans when it comes to incredibly unpredictable Yakuza storytelling. Many fans in the comment section of the trailer mentioned that the game feels like a fusion of Yakuza and Pirates Of The Caribbean is the most Majima game they’ve ever seen.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a full-fledged Yakuza game complete with new and returning characters. The story begins with Majima getting washed up ashore on an island called the Rich Island. He then proceeds to know the residents of the island and the dilemma they are facing, which leaves him on a quest to find a rare treasure.
