The Shiba Inu Layer-2 Shibarium will still launch this year, based on information included in the latest SHIB blog post.
The post, which gave holders an update on the Shiba Inu metaverse and Lands Sale, also gave a few mentions to projects on the Shiba roadmap, including Shibarium, when discussing plans for 2022.
With Shiba holders still clamouring for the layer-2 to avoid gas fees, here’s what was said.
Shibarium To Launch In 2022
In a section explaining why holders should buy land in the Shiba metaverse, the SHIB team gave some slight updates about the development of some of its projects. It said:
2022 is aimed to be a year full of surprises with new implementations like Shibarium, which will be the Layer 2 (L2) in which SHIB: The Metaverse will be developed, and even SHI, the Shiba Ecosystem stablecoin that is going to open new investment opportunities through the system Shib is currently developing.
From this, we can expect the Layer-2 to launch in the next 8 months, based on the pace of development. As the Shiba metaverse will run on Shibarium, we'd expect its full launch to come after the L2's release, too.
However, the team will be reluctant to give any more information on its exact launch until closer to the date. This is because full release dates can often get pushed back depending on development.
The launch of Shibarium will also bring with it further Shiba Inu burns.
Aside from Shibarium, it seems that the SHI stablecoin is also still slated for a 2022 release. This would add a fourth token to the Shiba ecosystem.
This news will reassure those token holders anxiously awaiting the release of Shibarium. With the lower gas fees often brought by L2’s, SHIB transactions could see a large drop in fees.
The demand for Shibarium was clear last week. Users speculated the huge Shiba news, now known to be the metaverse announcement, would mark the Shibarium release.
