The shotgun from the original game makes a comeback in the Silent Hill 2 Remake, retaining its role as a sturdy close-range weapon. It's essential for taking down tougher enemies, particularly during intense battles.

Despite not being the most powerful weapon, it still ranks highly in raw stopping power. This article will show you how to find the shotgun in Silent Hill 2 Remake, arming you for the horrors ahead.

How To Get the Shotgun in Silent Hill 2 Remake

The shotgun is a powerful tool you'll want to obtain when you reach Brookhaven Hospital.

It deals significantly more damage than the handgun, especially in close quarters. However, you won't get it immediately upon entering the hospital.

Here’s how you can get your hands on it:

After progressing through the storyline, you’ll eventually reach Brookhaven Hospital. Upon entering, you'll notice an empty gun cabinet near the hospital's entrance. This means that the shotgun has been moved elsewhere. Your goal is to search the hospital to find where it has been stored.

Once inside the hospital and the elevator is operational, take it up to the second floor (2F). As soon as you arrive, follow the west and south hallways, passing by the Director’s Office (you can skip entering this room). Keep heading towards the far end of the corridor where the Women’s Locker Room is.

Look around the room, and you will find the shotgun inside one of the open lockers. The locker is easy to spot because the door is wide open. The shotgun is in full view, almost inviting you to take it. Once you grab the shotgun, it's now part of your inventory.

Be sure to thoroughly inspect the room. There is also a Bent Needle hidden in a teddy bear on a chair, which will be useful for a future puzzle. Even though the shotgun packs a punch, it comes with restricted ammo.

Shotgun shells will begin appearing around the hospital after you acquire the weapon, but they are much rarer than handgun bullets. It’s wise to save the shotgun for tougher enemies or when in close-range combat.

Its high damage output makes it a great choice for encounters with boss enemies or quickly clearing rooms of aggressive foes. Getting the shotgun early will boost your chances of surviving the dangers in Brookhaven Hospital and beyond.
