The Sims 4 has a large community of players that create quirky and incredible mods for the game. If you can imagine it, there is probably already a mod for it.

From being able to adjust the height of your sim to letting them explore on their own, there are hundreds of mods from creators. This means that it can be hard to decide which ones to download first which is why we've put together a list of the best mods.

Ultimately, the best mods for The Sims 4 are the ones that will improve your experience with the game and the ones that you get the most joy out of. If you are playing the game but want to cut some corners, we have a guide on the cheats for PC and Console. We also have a guide that shows you how to change the language on PC.

How To Install Mods

Before we get into mods for the game, you need to know how to install them. Compared to other PC Games, modding this one is quite simple. First, find the mod that you want to install and download the folder onto your computer. After that, follow these steps to install it into your game:

  • Find your Electronic Arts Folder (usually in Documents).
  • Open it and select "The Sims 4"
  • Select and open "Mods"
  • Copy or extract your downloaded mod file into the "Mods" folder.

The next thing you need to do is load into The Sims 4. When you are at the main screen before starting a new game or loading into an existing one, follow the next few steps:

  • Open up options (usually the three dots in the bottom right of your screen)
  • Select "Game Options"
  • Select "Other"
  • Make sure that the box next to "Enable Custom Content and Mods" is ticked and green. This makes sure that the game knows to allow any downloads.

After doing those steps, your mods or custom content should automatically be installed in the game. The next time you load into The Sims 4 after adding a mod or custom content file to the "Mods" folder, you may be shown the above screen, which tells you the mods/custom content you currently have installed on the game.

The Playable Pets mod lets you take control of your furry friends within the game (you need to have the Cats and Dogs expansion though). You can customise a lot of things about your Sim, right down to how visible their freckles are. However, one thing you cannot alter is the height of your Sim.
