When they’re not creating hilariously broken potions, struggling to figure out puzzles or being hunted down by couriers, Skyrim players can often be found seeking out the ideal marriage candidate.
After all, how are you supposed to relax after taking your combat skills to the next level by battling some tough bandits, draugr or dragons without a loving partner to come home to and demand money from?
That said, sometimes one of Skyrim’s numerous hidden glitches and bugs pops up to ruin your plans for holy matrimony, as one player on Reddit has recently found out.
Have you ever had a Skyrim marriage go wrong?
Their misfortune is the topic of a recent thread in the Skyrim subreddit, which began with a post from the poor player in question, user Wyatt_Peanut, who shared a screenshot of a werewolf awaiting them at the altar, captioning it: “Something broke and Farkas married me as a werewolf.”
Some of their fellow players immediately began to present theories as to why this had occurred, with user SsVegito lowering the tone by claiming: “He's just getting ready for a wild night of consummation” and Mx-Nevermore adding: “This is fanfiction material and I am loving it.”
Thankfully, user The_Qodesh_One provided a more wholesome explanation: saying: “He wanted to make sure you loved the ‘real Farkas’ and not the facade he showed the world. What a special, beautiful, heartfelt moment.”, while SarCatTic added: “Farkas literally means wolf in Hungarian, so he's just being true to his name during the ceremony. He's taking his vows very seriously!”
On the other hand, user moonstoned04 mused: “(A) gay werewolf marriage, who says skyrim isn’t progressive?”
Meanwhile, user Trogdor7620 compared the incident to that of another player who’d had a frost dragon show up at their wedding to wish them and their partner congratulations.
