The PlayStation 5 is a good current-gen system but it’s definitely lacking in major releases as of late, with fans noticing a major drought in exclusives. Luckily, Sony has nostalgia on its side, as one of the company’s most recent successes is the Sly Cooper re-release for PS4 and PS5.

According to TrueTrophies, the first Sly game is currently a huge hit on PS Plus Premium, with over 3.1 million players replaying this classic platformer. While fans have been critical over the way Sony handles some of its PS2 ports, the data here shows that players are in need of more Sly in their lives.

Prior to the return of Sly Cooper, GameInsights reported that PS1 RPG The Legend of Dragoon held the previous title for most-played PS Plus Premium game. It seems that nostalgia is doing a lot of the heavy lifting until Sony releases another major exclusive, and fans are getting one soon.

Since Sly’s return was able to get this kind of reaction, we imagine that the upcoming Astro Bot game will do the same. This 3D platformer received plenty of praise when it was shown during the PlayStation State of Play, so fans of Sly should definitely give that title a shot.

Regardless of all the memes behind Sony’s lack of games, the company’s legacy content has done a great job of helping the company. Beyond Sly Cooper, fans also have the complete Jak and Daxter series to play, now that every game from the PS2 and PSP is readily available.

It will be interesting to see if this inspires Sony to make more Sly Cooper games in the future. Former developer Sucker Punch have been busy with Ghost of Tsushima and the Infamous games since leaving the series. Only time will tell if they will return, though it’s clear that the company is doing well.

Fans can purchase the first Sly Cooper game now on PS4 and PS5. Those in PS Plus Premium can play this amazing platformer as part of the service.
