Decided you need to know how to get the rebreather in Sons of the Forest? The multiplayer follow-up to the 2014 survival horror uses a few of the same mechanics, and you'll need the rebreather to make serious progress in the game. Here's where to find it.
The rebreather was an essential piece of kit for any proper run of The Forest, and the same is true for Sons of the Forest. Without it, you're severely limited in where you can go, blocking you from accessing some must-have materials for important crafts.

How to get the Rebreather in Sons of the Forest - SotF Rebreather location
The rebreather is pretty much the first obtainable item you'll want to seek out. Sons of the Forest follows a relatively linear path in regards to the items you need to progress, and the rebreather should be the first on your list.
Luckily, it's very easy to come across the rebreather. You'll find it in a cave on the beach you spawn on. So instead of immediately heading further into the woods when you start a game, prep yourself for a bit of spelunking and go from the Rebreather from the cave on the northern side of the beach first.
Getting the rebreather in Sons of the Forest follows a similar system to the first game: The Forest. To get the Rebreather in that game, you had to scout out 'Cave 5'. In Sons of the Forest, you get it much sooner.
What does the Rebreather do in Sons of the Forest?
Just like in The Forest, the Rebreather lets you breathe underwater. So long as you have air canisters with you, you'll deplete those rather than your own oxygen reserves when you dive, allowing you to say submerged for as long as you still have air left to breathe.
New canisters can often be found near dive spots. You'll likely find a few by the Rebreather to get you started, but you'll soon need to forage for more.
